{"id":11,"date":"2011-07-13T14:09:41","date_gmt":"2011-07-13T14:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2024-09-02T13:12:22","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T13:12:22","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<strong> Anglo-Norman Text Society <\/strong>is a learned society which was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/ANTS-Foundation-newspaper-clipping-1937.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">founded in 1937<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mildred_Pope\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Mildred K. Pope<\/a> with the aim of promoting the study of Anglo-Norman by publishing a series of texts of literary, linguistic, historical and legal value and interest. For more than seventy years, its series of <a title=\"Annual texts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/?page_id=55\">annual publications<\/a> (supplemented since 1983 with a <a title=\"Plain Texts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/?page_id=62\">Plain Texts Series<\/a> and an <a title=\"Occasional Publications\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman-texts.net\/?page_id=59\">Occasional Publications Series<\/a>) has succeeded in making available to specialist scholars and other medievalists a broad range of editions of Anglo-Norman texts. The joint publication (with the Modern Humanities Research Association) of an Anglo-Norman Dictionary, first initiated by Louise Stone in 1945, was completed in 1992. A revised edition of this has been available online since 2006 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglo-norman.net\/\">http:\/\/www.anglo-norman.net\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We are always glad to hear of new and ongoing research in Anglo-Norman studies, and maintain records of work in the field.
